How To Pack Shoes and More!

I was asked many moons ago to write a blog about how to pack shoes for a trip. So, here it is…plus, a few other bonus tips!

The first step in packing shoes? Save those hotel shower caps! While they look so weird on your head, these plastic hair savers are amazing for covering your sneakers, sandals, and stilettos. Ask the hotel housecleaning staff to give you a few extra! Hotels should also have them at the front desk. Pack your shoes soles down into the shower cap, which helps enormously by keeping any dust or dirt off of your fabulous clothes in your luggage. Plastic zip lock bags work well, too, but you have to remember to pack those ahead of time.

Bonus tip! Wear a multi-pocketed jacket to the airport. Why? You know when you’re late for a flight (well, I really don’t know how it is being late because I get to the airport so darn early! I love airports. Ha!) and you’re waiting for others to get everything through the scanner? Resolution: wear a jacket with pockets so while you’re waiting in the security line, place all your essentials like your iPhone, wallet, keys, and change into the pockets. Pass your jacket through with the rest of your carry-ons and then put your jacket back on and all your essentials are easily accessible. Make sense? Just make sure nothing falls out!

Bonus tip! Freshen your clothes with dryer sheets. They work especially well if you’re returning back from a beach or hiking vacation. Damp bathing suits and used workout gear can get pretty gnarly smelling in a suitcase and will stink up your entire travel wardrobe if you’re not careful. Avoid the unpleasant odor when you begin to unpack your belongings – remember to pack some dryer sheets.
