Robin Laub, a Life Stylist

Let’s Keep on trACK – Part 2

Last week I told you all about why I love Boston. Well, this week I’m telling you about my second favorite Massachusetts spot – a very special island called Nantucket. Or, for those in the know; ACK.

During my last visit, I accessed the ferry to Nantucket by way of Hyannis on Cape Cod with a quick stopover at my beloved sister’s who showered us with dirt bombs and cranberry wine! What’s a dirt bomb? Just Ask!

The ferry can be taken the fast way or the traditional way. We wanted to get there fast. So in just an hour, we were on the island and quickly plopped down our bags at our harbor side hotel, The White Elephant. This place brought back fond memories of my childhood when we would use this hotel as our landmark for giving directions such as to the beach. Location, location, location!

There are many beautiful places to stay on Nantucket. If you don't want to stay in the center of town I recommend staying out at ‘Sconset or Madaket Beach. Nantucket is such a special place that it’s hard for me to recommend just one ideal location. However, I’m happy to recommend the many places to dine and the many activities to have a ball.

Robin Laub’s Best of Nantucket List

Cooks Cycles – Best bike shop. Rent the Breezer Cruiser with the nifty wicker basket and ride to Madaket beach via Cliff Road.

Lola 41 – Best burger AND wine list. The owner is pretty cool, too! Thanks, Marco for the Montrachet! Oh, and the music in this amazing restaurant makes you want to stand up and dance. My kind of place!

Cisco Brewery – Best local find where you can sip, eat and listen to great tunes. It’s known for its’ beer, but they offer wines and distilled spirits, too.

Millie’s – Best lunch place, especially after hitting Madaket Beach. Try the “Tuckernuck!”

Barton & Gray Hinckley – Best boat company to tour around Nantucket. Request “Captain Chris!” Enjoy a stop at Toppers for an Ack Mule. Don’t forget your fun playlist for the boat. :)

Cru – Best restaurant on a dock. Try the island specialty, the smoked bluefish pate and wash it down with glass of Roederer Rosé. Be adventurous!

The Chicken Box – Best dive bar.

Galley Beach – Best sunset. Cool peeps. Keep your eyes peeled for celebs.

Travel Tip: Get a paper map. The ones you buy locally are the best!

If you’d like me to plan an extraordinary trip to the extraordinary state of Massachusetts, Just ACK! I mean Just Ask! Ha!
